Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1/N2 Passing Incentive Program

Students who pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 by the time of application will receive a 100,000 yen exemption from their first-year tuition fees, and those who pass the N2 will receive a 50,000 yen exemption.

  • *If you wish to utilize this system, please mark "Use" in the section for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1/N2 Passing Incentive Program on the application form and submit a copy of your passing certificate or a document showing your test results.
  • *It is possible to apply for both the scholarship program and this program simultaneously.
  • *There is no obligation to return the funds (except for dropouts).

Eligibility to apply

AO Admission

  • Those who have completed 12 years or more of formal school education in Japan or a foreign country, or those designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as being equivalent to this. (※1)
  • Students who have this school as their first choice.
  • Those who sympathize with and aspire to our school's admissions policy.
  • Applicants whose Japanese language ability is deemed to be sufficient for studying at our school.
  • For those enrolled in a Japanese language school, those who have an attendance rate of 80% or more at the time of graduation. (After passing, submit a certificate before enrollment.)

<Meet one of the following conditions>

  • Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 or above administered by the Japan International Education Association and the Japan Foundation.
  • Those who have obtained 200 points or more in the Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) (※2)
  • Those who have obtained 400 points or more on the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.
  • A person who has received at least one year of Japanese language education at an educational institution in Japan that provides Japanese language education to foreigners, either at a Japanese language education institution designated by the Ministry of Justice or a Japanese language education institution certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • Those who have completed at least one year of education in a Japanese elementary, junior high or high school.

General admission

  • Those who have completed 12 years or more of formal school education in Japan or a foreign country, or those designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as being equivalent to this. (※1)

  5. Graduation certificates (or certificates of expected graduation) and attendance certificates from all schools you have studied in Japan (Japanese language schools, vocational schools, universities, etc.)
    • *If it is difficult to obtain a certificate of attendance from your university or other institution, please submit your academic transcript instead.
  6. Copy of the results and certificate of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), or BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test (if you have one)

Regarding exemption from the Japanese language examination

一般入学希望者のうち、日本語能力試験(JLPT)N2以上合格/日本留学試験(EJU)の日本語科目で200点以上取得(成績有効期間は2年間)/BJTビジネス日本語能力テストで400点以上取得のいずれかに該当する場合、証明書の提出により日本語試験を免除いたします。

  • *Whether you submit your application by mail or in person, please be sure to pay the selection fee (examination fee) in advance. Please transfer the selection fee (examination fee) to the account listed on the back of the application form.
  • *Please be sure to transfer the application fee (examination fee) in the applicant's name, and write the "date of transfer" and "name of the remitter" on the back of the application form. (If using online banking, please write the "date of transfer" and "name of the account holder.")
  • *Application fees (examination fees) are non-refundable after the application has been submitted.
  • *If submitting by mail, please place the application documents in the application envelope designated by the school or in an envelope you have prepared yourself, and send them by registered mail from the post office so that they arrive within the application period.

International Student Acceptance Promotion Program (JASSO: Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship)

  • 受給条件
    1. You must receive a recommendation from your school.
    2. Applicants must not be international students holding a "student" residence status and receiving a scholarship from the Japanese government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), nor be international students dispatched by a foreign government.
    3. Applicants must be willing to cooperate with career guidance surveys and other related activities after receiving the learning incentive grant.
    4. Applicants must meet the required academic performance criteria (including language proficiency) for the year in which they are eligible to receive the grant.
    5. The average monthly allowance must be 90,000 yen or less.
    6. The annual income of the dependent living in Japan is less than 5 million yen.
How to apply 応募は、在籍する学校を通じて行う(図1、2)。応募者は、在籍する学校の選考方法に従って応募し(図3)、学校から日本学生支援機構への推薦を受けること(図4)。応募の締切日などの詳細は、在籍する学校に問い合わせること。
Result notification 採用・不採用の結果は、選考が終わり次第(図5)、学校を通じてお知らせします(図6)。

About student dormitories

We offer Dormy student dormitories, operated by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., to international students without requiring a guarantor.

Dormitory Features

Dormy Student Residences are student dormitories that provide safe and comfortable support for students experiencing living alone for the first time.

  • It includes homemade meals (breakfast and dinner), fully furnished private rooms with furniture and appliances, and Wi-Fi access – everything you need for comfortable living!
  • With well-equipped shared spaces such as a laundry room and a large public bath, there are plenty of opportunities to socialize with your friends!
  • With a safe and secure environment under the constant supervision of the dormitory manager and his wife, and various support systems in place to assist students, parents can rest assured.
