Tuition fees can be reduced!

If you are selected as a scholarship student, a portion of your tuition fees will be waived.
There are five types of scholarships, each offering a different amount of tuition fee exemption.

Even if you're not good at Japanese, you can rest assured that our teachers will support you! We offer courses on difficult Japanese words like onomatopoeia.
We also hold many exchange events for international students.

Applying for a student visa is easy!

Each school has staff who are approved to act as proxy agents for visa issuance and renewal, so we have a system in place where you can feel free to ask for advice not only about things you don't understand about student life, but also about problems you may have in your everyday life.

How to enroll

This guide outlines the application process and procedures for enrolling at our school as an international student. We provide detailed information on eligibility requirements, necessary documents, and the steps involved from application to enrollment.

Types of scholarship programs and benefits

Eligibility to apply

AO Admission (Comprehensive Selection)
  • Persons who have completed 12 years or more of formal schooling in Japan or abroad, or persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as equivalent thereto. (*1)
  • Those who sympathize with and aspire to our school's admissions policy.
  • Applicants whose Japanese language ability is deemed to be sufficient for studying at our school.
  • For those enrolled in a Japanese language school, those who have an attendance rate of 80% or more at the time of graduation. (After passing, submit a certificate before enrollment.)

<Meet one of the following conditions>

  • Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 or above administered by the Japan International Education Association and the Japan Foundation.
  • Applicants must have scored 200 points or higher on the Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU). (*2)
  • Those who have obtained 400 points or more on the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.
  • A person who has received at least one year of Japanese language education at an educational institution in Japan that provides Japanese language education to foreigners, either at a Japanese language education institution designated by the Ministry of Justice or a Japanese language education institution certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • Those who have completed at least one year of education in a Japanese elementary, junior high or high school.
General admission
  • Persons who have completed 12 years or more of formal schooling in Japan or abroad, or persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as equivalent thereto. (*1)
  • Applicants whose Japanese language ability is deemed to be sufficient for studying at our school.
  • For students enrolled in a Japanese language school, their attendance rate must be 80% or higher.

<Meet one of the following conditions>

  • Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 or above administered by the Japan International Education Association and the Japan Foundation.
  • Applicants must have scored 200 points or higher on the Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU). (*2)
  • Those who have obtained 400 points or more on the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.
  • A person who has received at least one year of Japanese language education at an educational institution in Japan that provides Japanese language education to foreigners, either at a Japanese language education institution designated by the Ministry of Justice or a Japanese language education institution certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • Those who have completed at least one year of education in a Japanese elementary, junior high or high school.
  • (※1) This refers to those who are recognized as stipulated in the "Qualifications for University Admission" announced by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology based on the Enforcement Regulations of the School Education Act.
  • (※2) Grades are valid for two years.

Selection fee (examination fee)

  • *Please make sure to transfer the money before applying.
  • *Whether you submit your application by mail or in person, please be sure to pay the selection fee (examination fee) in advance. Please transfer the selection fee (examination fee) to the account listed on the back of the application form. The selection fee (examination fee) must be paid in the applicant's name, and please write the "date of transfer" and "name of the remitter" on the back of the application form. (If using online banking, please write the "date of transfer" and "name of the account holder.")
  • *If submitting by mail, please place the application documents in the application envelope designated by our school or an envelope you have prepared yourself, and send them by registered mail through the post office so that they arrive within the application period.
  • *If you are sending money from outside Japan, any fees will be borne by the sender.

- All graduation certificates (or certificates of expected graduation) and attendance certificates from schools you attended while studying in Japan (Japanese language schools, vocational schools, universities, etc.)
  • *If you attended a Japanese language school, please submit your graduation certificate (or diploma) from your highest level of education.
  • *If it is difficult to obtain a certificate of attendance from your university or other institution, please submit your academic transcript instead.
- Copies of results/certificates for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), or Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) (only if you have them)

<Regarding exemption from the Japanese language test>

For general applicants, the written examination will be waived upon submission of proof of passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 or higher, achieving a score of 200 or higher in the Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) (score valid for 2 years), or achieving a score of 400 or higher in the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.

When applying for a scholarship

Both AO admissions (comprehensive selection) and general admissions involve the following examinations.

Tuition Support System

To ensure that international students can study with peace of mind, we have various support systems in place to alleviate the financial burden of tuition fees.

Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1/N2 Passing Incentive Program

Students who pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 by the time of application will receive a 100,000 yen exemption from their first-year tuition fees, and those who pass the N2 will receive a 50,000 yen exemption.

  • * If you wish to utilize this system, please mark "Use" in the section for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1/N2 Passing Incentive Program on the application form and submit a copy of your passing certificate or a document showing your test results.
  • * This can be used in conjunction with the scholarship program.
  • * There is no obligation to repay (except for dropouts).

International Student Acceptance Promotion Program (JASSO: Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship)

  • Number of applicants: As determined by the Japan Student Services Organization
  • Eligibility
  • 1. Obtain a recommendation from your school.
  • 2. Not a student holding a "student" residence status and receiving a scholarship from the Japanese government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), nor a student dispatched by a foreign government.
  • 3. Applicants must be willing to cooperate with career guidance surveys, etc., after receiving the learning incentive grant.
  • 4. You must meet the required academic performance criteria (including language proficiency) for the year in which you are receiving the grant.
  • 5. Remittances must be less than 90,000 yen per month on average.
  • 6. The annual income of the dependent residing in Japan is less than 5 million yen.
How to apply

Applications are submitted through the school you are enrolled in (①-②). Applicants should apply according to their school's selection process (③) and receive a recommendation from their school to the Japan Student Services Organization (④). For details such as the application deadline, please contact your school.

Result notification

The results of the selection process (whether you are accepted or not) will be communicated through the school as soon as the selection is complete (⑤) (⑥).

The results of your application (acceptance or rejection) will be communicated through your school. Additionally, only the names of successful applicants will be published on the Kyoritsu International Exchange Scholarship Foundation website.

We offer Dormy student dormitories, operated by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., to international students without requiring a guarantor.

Dormitory Features

Dormy Student Residences are student dormitories that provide safe and comfortable support for students experiencing living alone for the first time.
